The Realtor and You!

Just keep in mind that a Realtor does not work for you unless you have a written contract.  Calling the number on the sign get you the Realtor that listed the property and works for the Seller.  I you walk into  an office and ask about a specific property, that Realtor, by default, works for the Seller.

There are three types of agency in North Carolina:  Seller’s agency, Buyer’s agency and Dual agency.  All are written contracts and each has it’s own set of responsibilities.  The only default agency is the Seller’s agency – all Realtors work for the Seller unless otherwise specified with a written contract; a Buyer’s Agency Agreement or a Dual Agency which must be agreed upon by Buyer and Seller.
